Mk.II Drop pod

As I had the basic shape in place, I started thinking about how to get some cool looking detail onto the model. Though I can't make it look like he GW model, I'll try to take it that direction, as I really like that design. The first step was changing the shape a bit and add some wider bits - stabilizers I think they are?
I have also been trying to add a fin - tested on the old piece - will have to be level with the edge though, and I'm not sure how much it really adds to the model.

  1. Are you planning on casting them?

Regarding details, you still need to add some sort of thrusters and such, so that the thing can at least sort of determine the way it falls.

Will you also be doing an opened up version?

  2. It would be cool to get them cast, unfortunately I have no idea how. Luckily the thrusters are at the bottom ;)but yes more detail will be added.

  3. Here is a pretty clear tutorial on casting yourself: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL135DE5CCC89CD7B3

I imagine there must be plenty of stuff on youtube about this sort of thing. :)

  5. Might be an easier way to quickly produce a lot of drop pods. I mean, if you're planning on creating multiple, I can imagine that casting would be a more efficient option.
