Recommended shop

                                         LINK: Anvil Industry

When I first stumbled on Anvil industry, I instantly became impressed with the range already there, and then it has just been expanding ever since. The range includes among other things, lots of heads, torsos, arms and legs. But the thing I like the most is the wide range of weapons, especially the guns. You can choose from several basic guns and then kit them out with all sorts of add ons - other mags, scopes, chainsaws and so on and so on.
The main component line is marine sized, but a lot of the bits go very well with human/guard sized minis as well, and several components are made for human/guard size (like some really cool bionic arms).

Quality:
I've already ordered from them several times, and I must say I'm really impressed with the casting as well, I have yet to find flaws in the casting, edges are sharp and flash and mould lines are at an absolute minimum.

The guy who runs it, is as far as I'm concerned a straight up guy. Mails are answered quickly, and orders are shipped almost before you confirm your paypal payment. My last order was placed Wednesday afternoon and arrived in DK on Monday - and that was even during SALUTE weekend.

So if you need a few new conversions bits, or even need a whole new army of different looking marines Anvil Industry has my best recommendations.

"Modular" city terrain

As you can see in the pics in the previous post I've made some small terrain/elevated city pieces. Quite simple to make from normal polystyren covered with a paper-like gaming "mat". They were quite fast to make, so I decided to make a few more. Being an old Mordheim player I love when the battlefield is as much 3D as possible. The parts can of cause go on top of - or next to each other. Little bits of detail will be added, like corners, drains and what ever I can come up with. Hopefully the last ones will be done later today and I'll get some pics up. After having the last game, I've really only been in terrain mode, having cleaned up a few building set I had laying around and ordering even more things for terrain building. Seems side-tracking is not a thing of the past. Just adds so much to the games when your table is set properly. So I guess the next few post will terrain orientated.

Critters all over the place.......

Had a couple of games yesterday aginst a good friend, who brought his beautifully painted nids. Our first game was a 1000 pts. a side, just to warm up and get into the rules again. The game was BlitzKrieg from the Battle mission book. I ended up sitting on two objectives, nids - none.

We played 40K EXTREME - meaning outside

The Genestealers are as always lurking

We are moving into position Sir.

Bring 'em on

Come on - keep on moving.....
Second game was 2000 pts. Never played that big a game aginst nids before - 2K that's a lot of critters, and I thought this was all, but no no they just kept on comming.

If you are into Adeptus Mechanicus at all...

Well I'm normally not a pusher, but......if you enjoy the Mechanicus as much as I do,  this stuff is simply too good to miss.

A very cool dude doing some extremely cool custom parts for Mechanicus vehicles, and if I'm not mistaken in the future also for non-vehicle units.

Cluster mines here we come.............

Got sidetracked again. Have my "annual" 40K game coming up next weekend and I was a few hundred point short of 2000. So I finally got myself together and builded some scoutbikers for my Iron Ghost space marines. Though I only needed three I got them done so quickly I started building the last two I had laying around as well. I decided to magnetise the weaponmounts and the sergeant's arm, for further weapon options. Think it turned out quite all right - and I'm really looking forward to getting them used.

A new beauty

Should have been painting some yesterday, but finally this beauty arrived in the mail. Been wanting to convert this for a long time - so I just couldn't help it. The plan was to make this the base for my Myrmidia assault engines.
It comes almost completely assembled, but luckily it was quite easy to get the bit from each other. Have a good feeling about this one.

In darkness they were born.............

Menials finally finished, I think they turned out pretty well - creepy and gritty, and that's a good thing if you have to ask.

PAINTING CHIPPED PAINT EFFECT

Some time ago I made a short tutorial for painting chipped paint. Thought this would be good place to share it as well. Click on the pictures for larger version, or download at the bottom of the post. I've used it with excellent results on especially my Iron Ghosts space marines, there is a set of pictures displaying a bit further down the page if you want to see how they turned out.

More robots

Almost finished painting the Menials, so hopefully pictures of the completed unit will be up to morrow. In the meantime I'd like to show another model I've been working on. Initially they were thought as Velite jump infantry, but as comments were recieved and I had another good idea for the velites - I decided to make these hunter robots as well. A bit more sinister than the other ones. I saw something like this a few  years back on the web, and have been developing the idea since.

Coming out of the Darkness...

......almost done now, the little degenerates. Only a bit of skin and basing to do and the first unit is actually done.

Really like the way they have turned out. I was trying to do some OSL from the eyes, but I couldn't get it to look right on the black hood, so that idea has been dumped for now.

Hunter robots

Another unit I've been having a lot of fun thinking up is the Hunter Robots. Programmed to hunt a designated target and packs a good punch in both close combat and in shooting.
The minis are made up from a mix of necron Immortal and SM parts, a few bits from Maxmini and Puppetswar - and plastic rods of various shapes and sizes.

The whole unit.

Welcome

Welcome to the first post in what I hope will be an interesting blog about my mechanicus project. I never saw the mechanicus as a clean organisation sticking to a tight structure and standard templates, but rather a überclass priesthood, a militant department and degenerated subjects used for labour and/or cannon-fodder in war. I know this isn't strictly canon but in my view it does give me a lot of interesting conversion options, and hopefully that darker gritty look I'm aiming for.
Though not being much of a gamer, I still like to have an armylist to work from. And among the numerous fandexes out there, the Tempus Fugitive one is the one I like the best.

First up is my menials. Degenerated humans, usually slaving away in the forges, but in the time of war can be shoved onto the battlefield to suck up some enemy fire.
