Praetorian vs. Sagittarii scale

As per request a scale comparison photo with the praetorians and sagittarii. Sagittarii is just a tad smaller it seems.

See the beast

Had a few extra hours today, and got to work on the skin. I wanted it really bright, kind of seethrough, with some pale blues and purple. Turned out to be rather difficult to photograph though.

Finished Praetorians

At long last the painting of these cool little fighters are done. Really happy with the way they turned out - uniform and yet quite different, and lots of mechanical bits.

More paint

Touched up on some detail work, finished the green OSL and almost done with the blue. Not much left now, and I'm really looking forward to something else now.

Finally some painting

Well, as the title says, finally a new PIP photo. Getting around all the OSL and basecolors, and will hopefully get some detailing and finishing touches in there in the next few days. Really like how the green on the energy weapons turned out - just need the last few layers of highlight, then I think it's there.

Verdigris

Finally got a bit of time to add some more paint. Worked a bit on the weapons, darkened the bronze even more and added some verdigris. The bronze ended up looking slightly more worn than the test model, which suits the overall quite well I think.

The bronze is:
Vallejo Bronze, GW Devlan mud wash, GW Dahab black/catachan green/water mix wash, GW Hawk turquoise/water with a tiny bit of dishwash added.

Not so shiny

So following yesterdays interesting pictures of minis that might used for some cool conversions - just seen the  warpsmith is Finecast though - I have a small update on the praetorians. The Bronze has been toned down and now needs a bit of patina.

Metal works

Another small update on the painting. Getting the base of the bronze laid down. Looks annoyingly shiny right now, will be toned down a lot though.

Praetorian Red

Got a big step closer to finishing last night as I got all the red done on the praetorians. Just a tad brighter than on the testmodel - I think. So I guess it's not much.
Not that much left now, really looking forward to getting these done, so I can get on with the converting, Priests of Mars Have given me the sweetest ideas for some Magi..and servitors....and Herakli....and...and

Groupshot and a couple of close-ups of the Optio

Workshop pic

Another pic from the workshop. Got pretty much all the red marked down now, the red "gloves" on the Optio got to go though - really starting to look like old father X-mas himself.

 - oh yes, and the Bucs won their season opener yesterday, way to go.

Workshop pic

Well not that much done yet - just a quick update on the painting progress of the rest of the praetorians.

Praetorian finished

So finally got the test-piece done. Really happy with the way it turned out in the end - might add a bit more weathering in the future though.

Even closer

Well actually I had this one marked down as finished, weathered and everything - even put in in my lightbox for a photoshoot, when I realized the eyes were still a bit dark. Hmmm, back to the paintingtable you go.

Almost there

Paints are almost laid down now, just need the last bit of work on the red trackguards and I'm thinking about adding some weathering as well. And the eye - what to do? Think they should be green..............

Praetorian PIP II

Not completely dead - a small update with a small amount of paint. Couldn't really decide how to paint the track unit, but I think I got it nailed down now. Not the best photo I've taken, but I'll blame the phone - does give an idea how it will end up looking. A bit of red plating will be added and some minor details.

Praetorian PIP

Had a bit of playing around with bronze/brass last night - wanted a dark patinated color, and I think it worked out pretty well. Goes fine with the red as well, though I might have to add some damage to that too.
Those metallics will most likely end up being a big part of the colorscheme for the rest of the army as well.
