Bastard details

Still working on getting the Imperial Bastard done - heaps of detail work still need finishing. Slowly getting there and with every bit done, more and more character is added to him.

Color experiments

Not really knowing exactly how I felt about the paintjob so far, I decided to do a bit of experimenting yesterday.
The bronze on the emblem was given a stippling of orange before the final wash was applied - though it washes out somewhat in these phone photos, the effect is quite radical and good. Really adding a second layer of depth - I believe that even in these photos  you can see the difference between the arm and emblem, which have otherwise been painted in the manner.
The other experiment took place on the red armour on the left arm. I was trying to use the bold-highlights-washed-down-method, it wasn't really working though as I kept getting either soft pinkish highlights or getting the highlight too red after washing. Then I decided to give the old complementary color a go and added some green wash, initially as shading, but soon I splashed it on the edges/highlights as well - worked a treat I think.

An Imperial Bastard with goldlinings

Wasn't happy with the dark metal bionic arm, couldn't get the right dark color, so I have changed it to a dark bronze instead - well at least it will be once washes and highlights have been applied.

Painting the Imperial Bastard II

Very different way to paint, this one mini at a time. Don't think I have done that since (for a small mini like this that is) since I was playing D&D 20 years or so ago.....shit, old.
I know I've painted a character and the praetorian, but this is somehow different. I'm also trying to make it more messy and dirty than usual. I think it works alright so far, but I'm pretty sure I'll never be the next John Blanche.

Painting the Imperial Bastard

Simply couldn't wait to get this started. However the first few licks of paint doesn't say much.

The Imperial Bastard

Being really impressed with all the darkcore inq28 models shown all the web these days, I could help but doing this guy. Gunslinger, Bounty hunter, Inquisitor, Saint of Killers - I dunno. But I like the look.

Partslist:
Head: GW ranger skitarii
Body: GW commisar
Legs and left arm: GW scion
Guns: GW skitarii ironstrider
Decor: various GW bits, think the winged horse is some kind of bannerpole. Zinge Industries - the dial/manometer.

Looking fine

That's not a bad line up I think.

I also had a few spare moment so I could get a bit work done on my Saint of Killers

AdMech Rangers Finished

Really like how these turned out, the brown coat gamble paid off big time I think, really adding a lot of character to the minis. Have to say again that I'm truely impressed by the minis them selves - one of GW best in my book.

Back at what I like best

So after finishing the rangers, I couldn't wait to get back to the favourite pastime - converting. It has absolutely nothing to do with AdMech - but it will hopefully be dark and imperial. I got the latest commissar from a mate some time back, and have had an idea for a conversion ever since. Some cool new bits were  released during the wait, not bad.
Killer of Saints, Imperial gunslinger, mercenary - haven't quite decided yet.

Sneakpeek on the finished Rangers

Finished the Rangers last night - though I need to get some good photos taken, I could resist showing them off now.
