The saw got some attention yesterday. I think the overall colorselection works alright (still a lot of work to do though), however I'm not quite sure I'm happy with the red, I think it's slightly too dark, so it might get a repaint. It was an experiment anyway - of a different approach to painting red, at least I now know how I want it.

Almost mutant skin.......
As Half & Half are borderline mutants, I wanted to give the big fellow a twist to the skincolor. I also wanted it to be something else than the WAT grown AdMech skin I have done in the past, so I decided to work out of a yellowish base and then just play around and experiment...as follows:
Base: very old GW orc brown - lovely color :D
Next step was a skin drybrushing
It was then time to work some other colors into the skin, so he was given a random stippeling with a dark brown color and orange as well. Needed plenty as the next step would cover up most of it.
Another lighter fleshy drybrush.
Then I worked in some shading by adding ogryn flesh wash to "under sides" ie. non light exposed parts of muscles and fattybits. A purple was was added in the deepest recesses and in random patches to add even more depth to the skin.
Orange wash was applied on recesses and around implants/rusty bits.
Top layer drybrush of the skin - quite light coat of drybrush.
Finishing touches included picking out details and adding purple, orange and reddish washes around implants to make the skin look more irritated.

Trying to paint sick skin
Alright - painting has commenced and I'm playing around with the skin. Want a unhealthy yellowish, dirty color - and I'm building it up with several steps testing what works and what doesn't - lots of washing and drybrushing. Almost done now - just need a few steps more. Once that's done I'll post up a step by step.

Half & Half = One full mini
Finally satisfied with how Half and Half looks. I really think he turned out quite grimdark and brutal looking. There's still a hose missing for the flamer, but since the plans is to paint him i several sections to be glued together afterwards, it will be added in the end.

Gas tank support
Reaching the finishing touches - and one bit is slightly difficult. The support for the gas tank. ATM I think I'll add a support-beam from the bit holding up the little guy.

Now I mean it
This time I mean it - first half is almost done - perhaps one extra piece of decor and a hose for the flamer, but otherwise he's pretty much done.

Powersaw complete
Finished up the buzzsaw yesterday. Initially I wanted to add more bits, but it was simply getting too crowded, so I settled for a couple of power-cables.

Bluetac'ed mock up
All right, I just had to assemble him with all he new bits added. Looks a lot better I think, I also think he still needs a few items for decor, some skulls and such.....oh and the chest piece has been named a "heart-speaker"!

Technolungs and a new arm - who could wish for more.
As the next bionic piece I figured something on the chest would look good, and what else than some sort of gubbins that could be a device for assisted respiration, heart-implant or who-knows, would be fitting. Main objective was to have it incorporated in the body, not just something on the surface.
I've also started working on the new arm.

Rekitting...
After some very insightful and excellent advice from KrautScientist, I acknowledged what had been bothering with this mini for some time - the bionic arm. So it has promptly been torn off and will be replaced with something bigger and meaner looking. I had also decided that he was too clean, so in the same go I'll add some twists and bits, to take him to an acceptable level of weirdness and the lovely sickness that is the back-alleys of the 40th millennia.
I love the head, as I think it looks really unintelligent, which fits well with the story line I have planned for this model - but missing the grimdark and twisted. So I have added a metal plate, nailed on of cause, as the first bit. Looks rather good and brutal I think.

So first half of the half and half project is just about done - now to the difficult part, the second half, bit of a gamble really as I have no idea how it will look...interesting!

The Weed Burner
Continuing my venture into Inq28, with a fat bloke, I could only think of one proper weapon for him, a huge flamer inspired by my garden weed burner.
So what started as this...
soon turned into this.....
